NSC's 2012 Open Day was a great success, helped by the glorious sunshine and the many hard working volunteers involved. The club took out 185 people on free boat trips raising £168 in donations for the Chernobyl Kids fund.
The BBQ and RNLI Ladies' bake sale did a roaring trade keeping the throngs of visitors the harbour refreshed. There was entertainment from the Nairn and District Pipe Band and information stands by the Coastguards, Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society and NSC's own Dinghy Section.
The Dinghy Section, who completed a sponsored sail from Whiteness to Nairn in the morning, also demonstrated on-the-water skills in the harbour basin. The youngsters demonstrated great skills tacking their boats back and forward in quite a restricted area.
The highlight of the day, as always, was the visit of the Invergordon lifeboat, which led out the parade of sail, all club boats and dinghies dressed for the occasion. It then made a return visit to the harbour to allow visitors on to explore the boat.
