Nairn sailing club enjoyed superb sailing conditions on Sunday for the running of the Sweetheart Trophy, a race run in memory of Nancy and her sweetheart from London.
The race was one of the most exciting and tense of the season, fought out in brilliant sunshine and moderate westerlies breezes, and the 6 boats competing were all in contention throughout. The final leg from the East Riff navigation mark back to Nairn saw some excellent spinaker work from the lead boats, as the lead changed hands and the boats jostled in close proximity.
The eventual winner was the LM 35 Vitesse "Highland Mist" of Fred Woodcock, helmed by Buchan Main. In second place was the Superseal 26 "Eleanor" of Donald Harcus, and in third place was the Ovni 365 "Alouette" of Ken Killham. The trophy was presented to Heather Main by Nancy`s mum Pam.
