Commodore's Update

Old Bar Weekend

11 Boats ventured to the old bar enjoying great weather. The Barbecue was excellent as was the singing round the campfire. A frustrated Commodore was phoned around 11pm and given a rendition of Molly Malone. Remember I won't always have this arm in a sling.

Whiteness Head
Those who made the effort the day after the Nairn Games were rewarded with some lively sailing conditions. We had 2 Toppers 1 Albecore, 1 Kestrel,1 Enterprise and a Bosun on the water plus the RIB and the rubber dinghy.
Not many sessions left:
30th Aug 0900hrs
6th Sept 1300 hrs
13th Sept no dinghy sailing due to the Windermere Weekend
20th Sept 1300 hrs last day
Sweetheart Trophy
Highland Mist with an "A" team on board and Buchan on the helm won the Sweetheart Trophy 2nd was Alouette 3rd Eleanor
Amrita made an appearance without the Commodore Jim Clark taking over as Skipper. Six boats took part. A pleasant evening was had in the clubhouse where Ken Killham showed a DVD he had compiled of the Summer Cruise to the West Coast. Basil once again did the catering but unfortunately not everyone partook of his food so it's doubtful whether we can avail ourselves of this option again.
Junior Helm
This was intended as a means of integrating the dinghy sailors to an experience on the Cruisers. As such it was a huge success. Again 6 boats took part with Eleanor taking the honours, helmed by Holly Barnard and Calum Cook. Allouette was second helmed by brother and sister Calum and Catriona Cassar-Torreggiani. Amrita was 3rd with Hamish Baker  Harry Barron and Lewis Barnard helming on various sections of the course.
Bill Oswald did a marvellous job on the barbecue held in the club yard. A big thanks to Ken Killham for organising both days and the evenings entertainment.
