Dinghy sailing at Whiteness

by Unknown - 14:50 on 30 April 2013

Session 1: With temperatures at last in double figures 36 people turned up at Whiteness for the first session of the season. The main objective was to test out the various rescue boats and give operators the chance to reacquaint themselves with the RIBs. With the wind increasing throughout the afternoon and gusting to almost gale fore the half dozen dinghies that ventured out were summoned off the water, giving the rescue boats some work to do. All in all a good start to the season.

Session 2: Perhaps 5 degrees and a 9 o'clock start isn't the best combination to attract a crowd to go dinghy sailing! Notwithstanding we had 5 dinghies on the water and two rescue boats. Despite the gusty conditions we had no capsizes and everyone seemed to enjoy it.
