NSC Juniors compete at first Scottish Traveller Regatta
by Unknown - 14:28 on 30 April 2013
The 2013 Junior Regatta season started in Scotland this month. NSC’s Fraser Wella sailed his first ever Main Fleet race in his Topper at Loch Venacher, gaining a very creditable 9th place. with some excellent racing. Fraser has attended RYA Scotland Training Academies this winter and is ready for the season ahead. Congrats to Fraser for making the move up into the Main Fleet.
Calum Cook placed 4th in the Optimist Main Fleet at Loch Venacher Sailing Club, losing 3rd by one point on the last race.
It was noted that the standard of the fleets at Loch Venacher was much improved, with more sailors able to challenge the leaders, and lots of boats changing places around the course. The development of racing skills in the young sailors has been helped by RYA S's new Sailing Academies, which bring together all the Scottish sailors for training on weekends throughout the year. The weekends have proven popular and have been very well coached- worth the effort even from the north of Scotland.
More NSC Juniors will be taking part in regattas as the sailing season gets underway here, so stay tuned to the blog for more results!
