Coaching sessions at Whiteness- great sailing!

by Unknown - 22:30 on 09 September 2012

We are 3 days into a long weekend of sailing coaching with James Logan and myself at Whiteness. The dinghy saioirs have been sailing in small groups, practicing the skills that have learned this summer. This led to today's afternoon club session during which James set up a variety of exciting training exercises on the water. We then carried on to run 3 short racers (results yet to be published!) with 9 boats participating. We had a short break before going out for a sail until dusk, this time on the double handers with 7 of our juniors swapping around and taking turns to helm and crew, before a big capsize and recovery session. The kids have been having a ball, and went home completely exhausted but delighted by their progress and adventures.

We have given an introduction to 4 brand new juniors, and some of our adults have been getting coaching too. Well done to all of you and welcome to our new club members.

One more day to go before we put James back on the train to Glasgow, to catch up on his sleep.

Thanks everyone, James for your hard work and enthusiasm, all the parents and volunteers for their support, and the kids-  for sailing so well and having fun!

I think Euan would have stayed at Whitness from Friday until Monday continuously, if he could have! Thank you for organising it all, he had a blast! And is loving his new found sailing skills in an Oppie.
