Brown Cup and Scottish Champs Results...

by Unknown - 12:26 on 18 June 2012

Matt Scott entered the Lochearn Sailing Club's Brown Cup recently. He took part in the full weekend of training and camping, followed by the schools competition on the Monday. They had mixed weather, but completed racing as planned on the Monday. The event is hugely popular, with over subscribed entry lists and a big turnout assured. Matt raced well to finish 7th in the Optimist fleet. Rosebank pupils opted to go to their school sports day instead, which was then cancelled...so it was a rather disappointing Monday of school as usual for Calum and Henry!

Calum has just returned from Helensburgh this weekend where he took part in the Helensburgh Scottish Youth Series Regatta, which was also the Scottish Championships. Calum had a great weekend of racing, and finished in 5th place in the Optimist Main Fleet, sailing against all the best Oppy sailors in Scotland. This is his second regatta in Main Fleet and his best result so far. He was actually leading the last race by a good margin... until the very last buoy which he just touched on the way past. He sportingly took is penalty 360 turn but lost a place to a Scottish Squad sailor in the process, coming 2nd in that race. Calum said he found it really hard to concentrate when he was in the lead because it was so exciting and fun!

We have another training weekend planned starting this Friday after school, with coach James Logan. We hope to have a good showing of club juniors prepped and ready for the Moray Firth Regatta in under 2 weeks time.
